200 Professionals Tackle Child Protection Challenges in Neuwied
Nearly 200 professionals gathered in Neuwied for the 15th network conference, highlighting the importance of addressing child protection challenges. Mayor Peter Jung praised the attendees' commitment and emphasized the need for effective strategies and exchange to support both children and professionals.
The conference, titled 'Handling Social-Emotional Challenges in Child Protection', focused on helping socially and emotionally unstable children and young people. Anke Wagner, associated with the Landesverband Sozialpsychiatrie Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V., presented systemic possibilities for stress regulation and the importance of early attachment experiences. Professionals learned how to support children's development and maintain their own resilience using neuroscience findings and practical examples.
Close cooperation between the city, county, and local professionals was deemed crucial for tackling these challenges together. Aggression, withdrawal, or overload in children can strain families, schools, and professionals, but with the right support, these children have great development potential.
The conference provided a platform for new ideas, courage, and shared strategies for long-term effects in child protection. Professionals left equipped to handle social-emotional challenges, fostering secure attachments, clear structures, and believing adults to help children thrive.
