Academic leader Dr. Michelle Myers named as new Provost at Park University.
Dr. Michelle Myers has taken on a new role as the provost of Park University, effective immediately from October 29, 2018. This announcement was made by Greg Gunderson, the University's president, who expressed his excitement about Dr. Myers joining the team.
Dr. Myers joined Park University in July 2010, initially serving as a faculty member. Her academic journey began at Western Kentucky University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. She later pursued her Master of Education degree in teaching physical education and a Doctor of Education degree in curriculum and pedagogy from the University of Arkansas.
Before her appointment as provost, Dr. Myers served as dean of the School for Education at Park University. Prior to this, she held various positions at Queens College, City University of New York, including associate dean, assistant dean, and acting assistant dean in the Division of Education. Notably, she served as the coordinator of the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education at Queens College-CUNY.
As the University's chief academic officer, Dr. Myers is responsible for faculty development, student assessment and support, and curriculum and compliance. She will ensure that quality academic programs are delivered consistently across Park's 42 campuses across the country and online. In her role, she will provide creative and strategic leadership with a focus on academic excellence and fostering academic innovation.
Dr. Myers is committed to academic innovation and excellence. In the 2016-17 academic year, she became dean of the newly created College of Education and Health Professions. She will continue to prioritise these values in her new role as provost.
Dr. Myers resides in Northland, Kansas City, Mo. with her wife Kim and their daughter. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and outdoor activities.
