Sailin' for Changes: Arved Fuchs' Ocean Change Expedition 2025
Adventure Awaits
Sailor Arved Fuchs to Embark on 'Ocean Change' Journey in 2025 - Arved Fuchs Prepares for 2025 Ocean Change Performance
Prepare for a nail-biting journey as the legendary polar explorer, Arved Fuchs, embarks on a new leg of his comprehensive expedition, "Ocean Change 2025". Setting sail from Flensburg this Sunday, Fuchs, along with his talented crew, navigates aboard the historic sailing ship, "Dagmar Aaen". With a passion for interdisciplinary work and collaboration, Fuchs has spent a decade meticulously planning this epic adventure, focusing on the interwoven realms of climate change and marine preservation.
Voyage of Discovery
The excitement begins with a journey through the sensitive ecosystems of the eastern Baltic Sea, the North Sea, and the eastern Atlantic. The daring crew's itinerary includes captivating stops in Stralsund, Greifswald, Swinoujscie (Poland), Klaipeda (Lithuania), and Riga (Latvia). They'll glide past the breathtaking island of Gotland (Sweden), navigate the Kattegat and Skagerrak into the North Sea, make a pitstop on Föhr, and voyage through the English Channel towards Brittany and Cornwall, ultimately returning to Flensburg by late August (weather permitting).
Data on Deck
With the "Dagmar Aaen", Fuchs' crew collects valuable data in remote areas where research vessels are scarce. By leveraging modern measurement technology, they can record and share data, complementing the invaluable work of existing fleets.
A Decade in the Making
Since its foundation in 2015, the "Ocean Change" project spearheaded by Fuchs aims to explore the transformations in our oceans and their impact on the climate and coastal landscapes.
