Jutta Loesch Honoured for Decades of Humanitarian Work in Ukraine
Jutta Loesch, a former teacher from Neu-Isenburg, has been recognised with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her tireless efforts in providing aid to Ukraine. This honour comes in recognition of her commitment, spanning over two decades, to helping those in need in the Berehowe region, which has been plagued by poverty and war.
Loesch's humanitarian work began with the founding of the initiative "... daily bread for Beregovo", which later evolved into the association "Daily Bread for Beregovo - Help for People in Transcarpathia e.V.". Through this initiative, Loesch has organised over 90 aid shipments, delivering essential items such as food, clothing, generators, and medical supplies to various institutions in Berehowe, including soup kitchens, old people's homes, mother and child homes, dementia homes, farms, and schools.
The partnership between the Offenbach district and Berehowe, established in 2024, is rooted in the foundation Loesch created. This partnership has seen a significant increase in aid shipments since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Loesch's aid work is carried out in cooperation with the Reformed Church in Transcarpathia.
In addition to her aid work in Ukraine, Loesch is also involved in the integration of refugees and women with migration experience in Neu-Isenburg. She founded the sewing and German learning circle "Nähen und Deutschlernen", the proceeds of which benefit the people in Berehowe.
Landrat Oliver Quilling, who presented Loesch with the award, praised her courage, organisational talent, seemingly inexhaustible energy, and heart in building sustainable aid over decades. Quilling also emphasised the importance of volunteers like Loesch, stating that without their commitment, many things in society would have to do without.
Loesch's commitment in Neu-Isenburg is recognised and respected. She has been praised for her ability to motivate people to donate and help, including students from the Goetheschule who have joined in loading aid trucks.
The partnership between the Offenbach district and the western Ukrainian city of Berehowe goes back to the engagement of Jutta Loesch. Her tireless efforts have brought concrete help for people in a difficult situation, and her dedication serves as an inspiration for many.
