Bacolod guarantees sufficient funding for the BacCHP plan

The Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP) has been a vital health initiative in the city, providing financial assistance and healthcare benefits to thousands of residents. As of July 2025, a total of 143,354 beneficiaries have been registered under the program [1].

The City Government of Bacolod has partnered with several hospitals for the implementation of the BacCHP, including Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital, Metro Bacolod Hospital and Medical Center, The Doctor's Hospital, South Bacolod General Hospital and Medical Center, and Bacolod Adventist Medical Center [2]. However, specific information about the hospitals involved is not readily available.

The BacCHP has provided PHP195 million in assistance to over 18,000 patients as of June 2025 [1]. While the specific budget allocation for BacCHP is not detailed, it is part of the broader health initiatives in Bacolod City. This year, the City Government allocated P80 million for the BacCHP program [3].

Despite delays in card issuance, residents can still access the benefits of the program. This means that Bacolod residents can continue to receive medical assistance without having to wait for their BacCHP cards [4]. The City Government has temporarily suspended the issuance of BacCHP cards due to changes in the signatories.

Under the BacCHP Ordinance, the City Government will provide P15,000 for each health card holder and their dependents' hospital bills [6]. The City Government has also deployed liaisons to manage a help desk for indigent patients seeking hospital admission under the BacCHP [3].

Mayor Greg Gasataya expressed gratitude to the hospital officials for their collaboration with the City Government. He also stated that the City Government remains committed to enhancing the BacCHP system to make it more accessible, efficient, and effective for both beneficiaries and partner hospitals [7].

The City's registration for the membership of BacCHP is still ongoing at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC). As of now, at least 3,000 patients have availed of BacCHP hospital admission services since May 2024 [5].
