Balance in Existence: The Pursuit of Life's Purpose
The "Dynamic Equilibrium of Life" pavilion, located in the Signature zone at Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, is a captivating spectacle that invites visitors to delve into the intricate balance that sustains life. This pavilion, one of eight signature pavilions at the event, is a brainchild of biologist FUKUOKA Shin-Ichi and has been designed around the theme "Quest of Life," which encompasses both life and death.
The exterior of the pavilion showcases a three-dimensional LED light installation called Clathra, created by an unspecified artist. This installation represents the evolution of life throughout its 3.2-billion-year history. The pavilion's design symbolises the initial stage where life is born in an autonomous space, with cells balancing each other, a testament to the keyword "dynamic equilibrium."
The pavilion's membrane roof is supported by wires and air tubes, representing the mechanism of an embryo. This design choice serves as a powerful reminder of the delicate balance required for life to thrive.
The "Dynamic Equilibrium of Life" pavilion aligns with the Expo’s broader aim of advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting a super smart society (Society 5.0) where technology and human life coexist harmoniously. The pavilion encourages visitors to reflect on the interconnectedness and sustainability of life, contributing to the Expo’s vision of a future society designed for life.
Visitors can find the details of the pavilion's location on the official map of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai. The "Dynamic Equilibrium of Life" pavilion will be open to the public from April 13, 2025, to October 13, 2025, as part of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, which runs under the overarching theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives."
