Barys Hockey Team Faces Rise in Coronavirus Cases
Rewritten Article:
In a nutshell, the number of COVID-19 cases in the hockey team "Barys" has escalated, as reported by Almaty.tv, citing Vesti.kz.
Bagdat Kodzhakhmetov, the official Ministry of Health representative, made this disclosure.
A week prior, the grapevine was buzzing with news that 12 players from the main squad had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Kodzhakhmetov initially reported 11 infected cases and later detected another eight. As a result, the total number of COVID-19 cases in "Barys" now stands at 19.
Kodzhakhmetov pointed out, "It's scary when coronavirus breakouts occur in work groups like this one. On September 17, 40 individuals from the Barys administration and team underwent a preventive examination. We found 11 positive cases. On the same day, the city's chief state sanitary doctor's orders were issued to implement anti-epidemic measures, and 29 contacts were identified and prohibited from entering the "Barys Arena" stadium. The stadium was disinfected, and staff were educated about the situation. However, during the examination of the 29 contacts on September 22, another eight team members tested positive. All 19 infected individuals are asymptomatic and receiving outpatient treatment."
Initially, "Barys'" return to the KHL playoffs following a two-week quarantine was set for October 4, with a home game against SKA scheduled. However, the new cases that emerged after the team went into isolation have led to postponement of the matches for a few more days.
It's worth noting that, just like regular folks, professional athletes aren't immune to the virus. "This virus ain't pickin' and choosin'," Kodzhakhmetov stated.
