Carbon Monoxide Crisis at 1250th Bakery Anniversary in Herrenberg
A celebration turned into a crisis on October 3rd, 2025, when a carbon dioxide buildup was reported at a bakery in Herrenberg/Haslach during its 1250th anniversary event. Nine people were injured, and five others received medical attention, with one airlifted to a hospital.
Rescue services and firefighters swiftly responded, closing a section of Hohenzollernstraße for the operation's duration. They ventilated the bakery, suspending its operations indefinitely. Four individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for further examination. The Herrenberg police station has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the gas leak. Despite the incident, the head of the Police Academy Ludwigsburg is expected to assist in the investigation, though his name remains unknown.
