Cheese product under investigation for potential listeria contamination: Camembert pulled from circulation

In a recent development, French cheese manufacturer Chavegrand Inc. has voluntarily recalled its Camembert de Caractère "Vieux Porche" and Camembert Charles VII products from supermarkets across multiple European countries. The recall comes after these cheeses were linked to two deaths and multiple illnesses due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The affected products, which are sold in German supermarket chain REWE and potentially other stores in Germany, as well as in countries like France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, and Monaco, include the Camembert de Caractère "Vieux Porche" (250g, 6-pack) and Camembert Charles VII 250g. The recall also applies to multiple batches of the Camembert Charles VII 250g product, with specific batch numbers including C5160022, C5174014, C5154095, and C5160044.

Affected Vieux Porche batches include C5196170 with an expiration date of 29.08.2025, C5189156 with an expiration date of 22.08.2025, C5183129 with an expiration date of 16.08.2025, C5176114 with an expiration date of 09.08.2025, C5189131 with an expiration date of 22.08.2025, and C5181148 with an expiration date of 15.08.2025.
