Claudio Contardi, previously married to Julieta Prandi, found himself under allegations of sexual misconduct.
In a shocking turn of events, Julieta Prandi, a well-known figure in Argentina, has filed a complaint against her ex-husband, Claudio Contardi, accusing him of aggravated sexual abuse and repeated violence. Contardi, an entrepreneur in the gastronomic sector, is primarily known for this high-profile legal case.
The alleged abuses occurred between July 2015 and March 2018, within the conjugal home they shared in Escobar. Prandi detailed episodes of extreme control, including instances where Contardi hid her wallet and cell phone in the freezer to prevent her from traveling. The prosecutor, Christian Fabio, stated that Contardi exercised physical, psychological, and symbolic violence over Prandi.
Prandi described her relationship with Contardi as characterized by progressive control and systematic mistreatment. She stated that Contardi imposed on her the obligation to maintain sexual relations because she was his wife. Prandi also mentioned incidents of physical violence, such as being grabbed by the neck, having a fist put in her face, and having her hair pulled.
In addition to the physical abuse, Prandi denounced economic violence. She stated that Contardi managed to get her to sign a power of attorney, allowing him to collect her salary and manage her accounts.
Julieta Prandi and Claudio Contardi got married in 2011 and maintained a relationship for a decade. They have two children, Mateo and Rocco. Prandi expressed that when she saw her son Mateo experiencing the same pain, she took off the last veil she had. She mentioned a parallel criminal case for "terrible things" that happened to her older son under Contardi's custody.
The couple separated in early 2019 and the divorce was finalized in October of the same year. Judge of Guarantees Luciano Marino considered that there were sufficient elements to take the case to trial.
This is not the first time Contardi has been in the headlines. In 2021, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison for repeated abuse and violence. After separation, Prandi recounted that the final cohabitation was marked by a lot of psychological mistreatment.
Prandi's breaking point was realizing the impact on her children, particularly her older son. She stated that she decided to speak out to protect her children and other potential victims. The trial is ongoing, and the public awaits the verdict.
