According to traffic safety experts, Ascension Day in Germany poses a higher risk of alcohol-related traffic accidents compared to other days of the year. The official accident statistics consistently reveal an exceptional number of cases on this day.
In 2023, there were 340 incidents nationwide, a significant increase from the average of 95 per day. On Ascension Day alone, 204 of the 287 alcohol-related accidents resulted in injuries, and one person died.

Not only are there dangers on the road, but also off the road, especially with early summer temperatures. An impulsive jump into a gravel pit, river, or swimming pool can quickly put revelers or even drunk people in acute danger of drowning.
