Mandatory CPR Training to be Implemented in Schools Across NRW - Compulsory school rejuvenation implemented in schools of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW)

**Mandatory CPR Training Coming to Secondary Schools in North Rhine-Westphalia**

Starting from the 2026/27 school year, **secondary school students in North Rhine-Westphalia will receive mandatory CPR training**. This initiative, supported by the ADAC Foundation, the Björn Steiger Foundation, the German Heart Foundation, and various medical associations and university clinics, is an important step towards preparing young people for medical emergencies as stated by NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst (CDU).

The CPR training, which is part of the educational mission of the schools, will be a 90-minute lesson designed for students in grades 7 to 9. Each school will be equipped with ten practice dummies for CPR training. The lesson will teach students the life-saving sequence "Check - Call - Compress".

The short duration of the training, 30 minutes, reflects an effort to make CPR education accessible and manageable within the school curriculum while ensuring students gain practical knowledge in emergency response. This move aligns with broader public health policies encouraging widespread CPR training to improve survival rates in cardiac emergencies.

The first teachers will be trained statewide from September 2025, and the project is being implemented in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia. Bernd Böttiger, chairman of the German Resuscitation Council, emphasized that this decision will help save many lives.

If you need official confirmation or further specifics such as curriculum or certification details, local education authorities or government announcements for North Rhine-Westphalia would be the most direct sources.

In the interest of fostering a responsible and health-conscious community, the introduction of vocational training in first aid, specifically CPR, is proposed for secondary schools in North Rhine-Westphalia. Furthermore, to promote overall wellness, this could be expanded to include modules on science, health-and-wellness, fitness-and-exercise, and therapies-and-treatments, creating a comprehensive vocational training program for students.
