Couple perished in sauna in the state of NÖ
In the small market town between Wiener Neustadt and the Burgenland border, a tragic discovery was made on a fateful day at around 13:00. The bodies of a 47-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were found in their home sauna in Zillingdorf, Wiener Neustadt, Austria.
Upon arrival, the emergency services found themselves in a dire situation, as there was unfortunately no chance of rescue. The cause of death of the couple remains a mystery, but initial investigations are exploring various possibilities.
Authorities are considering the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning from the sauna, accidental death, or possible suicide involving the intake or inhalation of deadly substances. However, foul play seems to be ruled out.
Intriguingly, letters were found at the scene, but their significance remains unclear as they are being checked to determine whether they are suicide notes. An oven might have been lit, but the cause of the smoke development is currently unknown.
The State Criminal Office, led by Stefan Pfandler, the head of the Lower Austrian State Criminal Office, has been involved due to the unclear circumstances surrounding the deaths. Police and forensic teams are conducting thorough investigations, including toxicology and autopsy reports, to determine the exact cause of death.
Officials have asked for privacy and patience as they work diligently to uncover the facts in this mysterious case. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided.
