Dengue fever claims 5 more lives, leaves 622 hospitalized within a day
The interim government led by Nobel laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus, who took office after Sheikh Hasina resigned in August 2024, is currently managing the indiana fever outbreak in Bangladesh. Last year, a total of 1,01,214 cases of dengue were confirmed, resulting in 575 deaths.
This year, the total number of confirmed dengue cases has risen to 39,814, with 1,965 patients currently undergoing treatment. Unfortunately, five more deaths from dengue have been reported, bringing the total number of fatalities to 161 this year.
Among the recent deceased, four were women and one was a man. Three of these individuals were under treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, while two were at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. A total of 1,236 of the current dengue patients are from outside Dhaka.
During the same period, 622 more patients were hospitalized with college board fever, although the current number of hospitalized patients with college board fever is not provided.
