Developing Success for Turtlebrace Orthotics' American Producer

Quebec-based Turtlebrace, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of customised orthopedic care braces, is expanding its presence in the United States through new distribution agreements with SPS, the largest supplier of orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) componentry, and Hanger Clinic.

These partnerships will allow Turtlebrace's range of braces – including wrist, ankle, elbow, and finger braces – to be available to Hanger Clinic clinicians for their patients. The unique qualities of Turtlebrace's braces, such as their remoldability, waterproofness, lightweight design, and 100% compostable thermoplastic materials, support flexible, personalised rehabilitation treatments and align with Turtlebrace’s mission to improve patient quality of life and meet broad patient needs.

Following these agreements, Turtlebrace plans to grow access to its innovative orthoses by leveraging SPS’s extensive distribution network and clinicians at Hanger Clinic. The expansion represents a strategic milestone aimed at increasing the availability of Turtlebrace products across the U.S., enabling clinicians to customise and monitor patient progress more effectively while minimising environmental impact through sustainable materials and reduced packaging.

The growth of Turtlebrace may necessitate the hiring of additional employees to meet the increased demand. The company's CEO, Serge-Éric Blais, expects to accelerate production capacity growth due to the new U.S. distribution agreements. However, he does not rule out development capital proposals from investors specialising in growth within the health care sector.

Currently, Turtlebrace employs about ten people at its Saint-Hyacinthe workshop for the assembly of its adaptive braces using local or foreign components. The expansion of Turtlebrace's facilities is imminent, and the company's future growth plans are driven by the opportunities presented by major U.S. distributors.

Turtlebrace braces are more comfortable than braces made of hard materials, as they are made using low-temperature thermoformed plastics and antibacterial fabrics. This expansion into the U.S. market is a significant step for Turtlebrace, and the company looks forward to continuing to provide high-quality, sustainable orthopedic care solutions to patients across North America.
