Elon Musk's excessive drug consumption allegedly caused bladder issues.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk Allegedly Consumes Large Quantities of Ketamine, Develops Bladder Issues
According to a report from the New York Times, tech billionaire Elon Musk allegedly consumed excessive amounts of the anesthetic ketamine during the U.S. presidential campaign, leading to bladder problems — a known side effect of the drug.
The 53-year-old is said to have consumed so much ketamine that it caused bladder damage, a condition associated with chronic ketamine abuse. Additionally, the report claims that Musk took other substances such as ecstasy and hallucinogenic mushrooms. Photographs obtained by the media outlet show Musk traveling with a case containing around 20 different pills, including Adderall, a stimulant used to treat ADHD.
Musk has publicly denied ongoing drug use, stating on social media that he is not currently consuming drugs and that he only tried prescription ketamine a few years ago, not since then. However, he did acknowledge using ketamine to help manage depressive episodes in the past.
During a press conference with former President Donald Trump, Musk avoided commenting on the matter and instead questioned the credibility of the newspaper. Trump, for his part, expressed no concerns about Musk's reported drug consumption. The business magnate invested several hundred million dollars in Trump's 2020 campaign. It is unclear whether Musk continued his drug use after accepting a position in the White House as head of the Department of Public Expedient Government Operations (DOGE).
Previously, Musk has been open about his drug use. In March 2024, he admitted to using ketamine to combat depressive episodes and consuming it about every two weeks. Years earlier, he was seen smoking cannabis, which is legal in several U.S. states.
