Emergency Room at CLMMRH to Undergo Temporary Renovation

The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City will temporarily close its emergency room (ER) starting September 2025 for a three-month renovation costing ₱92 million aimed at improving services [1][2].

During this period, CLMMRH is coordinating closely with private hospitals in Bacolod City to accommodate its ER patients. Private hospitals have agreed to reserve beds specifically for CLMMRH patients needing emergency services, with CLMMRH covering the payment for discharged patients. Mandatory government discounts and the PhilHealth outpatient emergency care package will be applied for financial assistance [1].

A temporary ER will be set up within CLMMRH, equipped with around 14 beds to handle critical category 1 and 2 patients who require urgent resuscitation or treatment for conditions like low blood pressure [1]. Patients from Bacolod City seeking emergency care beyond what the temporary ER can accommodate will be referred to partner private hospitals.

Cerrada, the head of CLMMRH, is hopeful that the infrastructure improvement will accommodate all patients. A meeting with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) of Bacolod and the Province of Negros Occidental, and other emergency units is also scheduled to ensure awareness among emergency responders is high during crucial moments [3].

In terms of post-renovation services, the improvements funded by the ₱92 million budget aim to enhance overall hospital emergency service quality, which suggests increased capacity and better facilities upon completion. Additionally, the Bucas Plus Center, a ₱50 million facility with 15 beds, is being constructed to further help decongest CLMMRH’s ER, indicating expanded capacity for emergency and related services in Bacolod [4].

Bacolod City Lone District Representative Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has urged CLMMRH to conduct a simulation of the patient transfer process before the ER closure to avoid confusion. An additional meeting with private hospital officials is scheduled for August 20 to finalize plans and sign a memorandum of agreement [5].

In summary:

  • ER closure and renovation: September 2025 for 3 months, ₱92 million budget [1][2].
  • Coordination with private hospitals: Reserved beds for CLMMRH ER patients, CLMMRH pays for discharged cases; application of government discounts and PhilHealth packages [1].
  • Temporary ER setup: 14 beds for urgent cases at CLMMRH during renovation [1].
  • Patient accommodation: Navigation to private hospitals in Bacolod City for non-critical ER cases [1].
  • Post-renovation improvements: Enhanced ER services and additional facilities like the Bucas Plus Center to reduce ER overcrowding [4].
