Empowerment Initiative for Senior Citizens: Domestic Assistance and Mobility Enhancement

On September 12, 2025, the Initiative Life and Living in Old Age (ILWiA e.V) is hosting an event at the fish market in Greifswald. Titled 'Mobile & Secure in Old Age', this event aims to inform and motivate seniors and their relatives about independent living.

The day-long event, organized by the Greifswald Climate Initiative, is not just an information session, but an opportunity for visitors to test devices and systems, exchange with experts, and get answers to their individual questions.

Admission to the event is free, and attendees can look forward to a range of activities. Health checks and exercise training will be provided, along with rollator courses for seniors to participate in.

Technological assistance systems for more safety at home will be available to try out. These include devices designed to help with daily tasks, making life easier and more secure for those in their golden years.

Nutrition and assistive device counseling, with practical tips for daily life, will continue to be offered. Visitors can expect expert advice on maintaining a balanced diet and using the right equipment to make life easier.

The Senior Citizens' Council of Greifswald will present and distribute emergency kits at the event. These kits are designed to provide essential items in case of an emergency, offering peace of mind to those in attendance.

Network Demenz and Culture will offer a Lucky Wheel with quiz and prizes, as well as a dementia simulator. The dementia simulator is an interactive experience that allows visitors to gain a better understanding of what it's like to live with dementia, promoting empathy and understanding.

The event also offers personal consultations and information on care, housing, and support offers. Visitors can speak to experts about their specific needs and find solutions tailored to their circumstances.

In addition to all these activities, the event promises to be a day of learning, interaction, and fun. So, mark your calendars for September 12, 2025, and join the Senior Citizens' Council of Greifswald, the Greifswald Climate Initiative, and other organizations at the Fischmarkt in Greifswald for a day dedicated to empowering seniors and helping them live their best lives.
