Russian Junior Judo Team Returns to European Stage

The Russian Judo Federation has announced the return of the Russian junior judo team to the European stage, after a three-year hiatus, at the upcoming European Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia. The event, known as the premier junior event in the Old World, will take place from September 4 to 7.

The Russian team will field 18 athletes, including Chelyabinsk's Eva Ognirova, a member of the national judo team of Russia. Ognirova, who has previously won multiple national championships, the Russian Cup, and the European Cup, will compete in the under 70 kg weight category on September 5.

The Russian team's impressive performance at the 2021 European Championships in Luxembourg saw them topping the standings, with six individual medals (four gold, one silver, one bronze), and a third-place finish in the team "wall" tournament.

The tournament in Bratislava is expected to attract approximately 400 athletes from 40 countries. The Russian team's coach for the 2023 European Championships in Bratislava remains undisclosed at this time.

The Russian Judo Federation is confident that the team will continue their winning streak at the upcoming European Championships. With the return of the Russian junior team, judo fans across the Old World are eagerly anticipating an exciting competition in Bratislava.
