Excessive consumption of alcohol in Kuban region surpasses 243 million liters mark
In a recent report by the regional department of consumer affairs and alcohol market regulation, it has been revealed that alcohol consumption in the Krasnodar region has seen a significant decrease. The per capita consumption has dropped by 10.1%, marking a notable change in the region's drinking habits.
This decrease in alcohol consumption can be observed across various alcoholic beverages. Beer sales have dropped by 8.3%, while sales of strong alcohol have decreased by 4%. The sales of still wines have seen a more pronounced decrease of 16.9%, and sparkling wines have experienced a decrease of 10.5%.
However, the report also notes a slight increase in the consumption of certain beverages, such as perry and mead. There has also been a slight increase in the consumption of cider.
The cause of the decline in beer consumption in 2025 remains unclear, as no specific information has been found.
The decrease in alcohol consumption is attributed to an increase in consumption culture that promotes a healthy lifestyle. This shift is reflected in the growing popularity of a healthy lifestyle among the region's residents, which is believed to be a contributing factor to the decrease in alcohol consumption.
As a result of these preventive measures and changes in consumption culture, the total alcohol consumption in the Krasnodar region in 2025 is 27 million liters less than in the same period of 2024. Despite the decrease, as of the beginning of 2025, the total alcohol consumption in the region stands at 243.8 million liters.
This news marks a positive step towards promoting a healthier lifestyle in the Krasnodar region and serves as an example for other regions to follow. The regional department of consumer affairs and alcohol market regulation will continue to monitor the situation and implement further measures to encourage a healthier society.
