As of now, there isn't a single MVZ owned by a municipality in all of Saxony-Anhalt. In response to a minor inquiry, the government stated it was unaware of any municipality currently pursuing founding intentions for a municipal MVZ. Furthermore, no funds are allocated in the state budget for the promotion and support of municipal MVZs.
Unlike traditional doctor's practices, MVZs are characterized by organizational separations between ownership and medical treatment. Doctors are usually employed as staff rather than practicing independently. The Federal Ministry of Health outlines that MVZs can be operated as either interdisciplinary facilities or group practices.
