BASF, a global leader in chemical production, is set to revolutionise the agricultural sector with its latest innovations, Luximo and Divexo®.

Luximo, a new herbicide, is poised to close a gap in grass control as the approval of Flufenacet is due to expire. This new product, already approved in the UK since 2022 and expected to enter German practices in 2027, offers reliable performance even against existing resistances. The use of Luximo will be closely monitored by local advisors to ensure optimal results.

The problem of field horsetail and couch grass has been a significant concern in many regions, with 400,000 hectares in Germany heavily infested. Luximo, with its completely new mechanism of action, promises to provide an effective solution to this issue.

In addition to Luximo, BASF is also introducing Divexo®, a fungicide that works against resistant fungal strains. This product boasts high rainfastness and UV stability, making it an ideal choice for farmers. The application rate for Divexo® is 2 l/ha, with a maximum of two applications per season possible. Divexo® will be available for the upcoming potato growing season.

BASF's focus on researching innovations for competitive agriculture is evident in its significant investments. The company invests approximately 2.5 million euros daily in agricultural research and has over 7.5 billion euros in its development pipeline.

Moreover, BASF is not stopping at just these two products. Delan® SC, a new product containing the active ingredient Dithianon, will be available for the 2026 viticulture season. Delan® SC offers excellent rainfastness, good miscibility, and reduced active ingredient amounts for effective disease control.

Maria Valtin, the Head of Technology & Consulting Germany at BASF, emphasises the importance of the right formulation of active ingredients for their effectiveness in agriculture. "At BASF, we are dedicated to providing farmers with the best solutions for their specific needs," she says.

With the planned sales start of Luximo in early 2026 and the approval process for Luximo expected to be completed by 2026, it seems that BASF is on track to deliver on its commitment to innovation and sustainable agriculture.
