Following the burglary incident, surveillance cameras are set up at the nursing home.
In the quiet town of Schneverdingen, an unsettling incident occurred on Sunday, October 8th. An 81-year-old resident of the Tannenhof retirement and nursing home on Nordstraße experienced a suspected sexual assault.
According to the police, the suspect was a man, approximately 1.65 meters tall, with a slim build, narrow hands, and large black eyes. He wore a distinctive green-blue full-body suit with a white stripe on his arm or chest, known as a Morphsuit. The suspect spoke German without an accent.
The incident occurred in the early morning twilight. The suspect entered the woman's room through the open balcony door. Despite the harrowing experience, the woman was able to scare the intruder off. An employee of the senior home saw the suspect running away on the street.
The police suspect that the incident might have been a spontaneous act by a male perpetrator. They have ruled out a connection to the frequent burglaries in Schneverdingen. No similar incident of this nature has been reported in the Heidekreis area before, according to police spokesman Tarek Gibbah.
In response to the incident, the Diakonische Altenhilfe Schneverdingen, the operators of the senior home, are taking steps to enhance security. They are installing a camera system to improve surveillance and are sensitizing both their employees and residents about the incident.
The police's prevention team is available for security consultations, especially for senior citizens. If anyone has information about the incident, they are encouraged to contact the police at (0 51 91) 9 38 01 04.
At this time, the police are unable to establish any connections related to the incident. There is no publicly available verified information identifying who wore a green-blue full costume with a white stripe on the arm or chest and fitting the described physical characteristics on the night of Sunday, October 8, in connection with the suspected rape case at the Alten- und Pflegeheim Tannenhof in Schneverdingen.
The senior home is cooperating fully with the police investigation and is working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.
