Individual perishes during the unloading process of an Andy Warhol-designed BMW M1 in Washington DC.

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at the Washington, D.C., National Mall during the unloading process of the iconic 1979 Andy Warhol BMW M1 Art Car. The incident resulted in the death of a truck driver and the cancellation of several events planned for the rest of the week.

The M1, a piece of significant historical value, was being delivered from an enclosed Reliable Carriers auto transport truck, a company known for its excellence in car-moving services. No definitive cause for the incident has been shared, but reports suggest equipment failure may have been the cause.

As the vehicle was being unloaded, medics responded to a call for a man trapped under a vehicle. Despite their lifesaving efforts, the man suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The Warhol M1, painted by the famous artist Andy Warhol in less than half an hour, is known for its striking looks, racing heritage, and astronomical dollar value. It previously raced at LeMans.

Hagerty, the organisation responsible for the "Cars at the Capitol" pop-up car show events, issued a statement expressing condolences for the truck driver's family. In light of the incident, the events planned for September 18-23 have been cancelled out of respect for the deceased.

Following the police investigation, the M1 was re-packed and removed last night. It is uncertain when the Warhol M1 will be displayed to the public again following the accident.

Stucki, the company that used the transporter for loading the Andy Warhol BMW M1 Art Car, has not made any further comments regarding the incident at this time. Reliable Carriers has also remained silent, choosing to focus on supporting the family of the deceased during this difficult time.

The Warhol M1, a symbol of both art and racing history, will undoubtedly be missed at the National Mall. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the truck driver's family and friends during this difficult time.
