Kuwait Launches Major Mental Health Initiative on World Mental Health Day
The Ministry of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood in Kuwait has launched a significant initiative to tackle mental health challenges, coinciding with World Mental Health Day. The First Forum and Exhibition on Mental Health was opened, aiming to empower individuals and families while reducing stigma.
The event, supported by the Ministry, was a collaborative effort involving several partners. The Arab Planning Institute, Tanmia Charity Society, and Elite Research and Development Company joined forces to create the Awareness and Guidance Center at the forum.
Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, the Minister, emphasized the importance of mental health, stating it is a fundamental human right and an investment in Kuwait's future. The Ministry seeks to strengthen the mental health system through awareness and counseling programs in schools and specialized centers. The forum equipped parents with essential communication skills and behavioral understanding tools to engage positively with their children.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to the Awareness and Guidance Center team and forum partners for their contributions to social and family welfare in Kuwait. The First Forum and Exhibition on Mental Health marked a significant step towards empowering individuals and families to overcome psychological and social challenges without stigma.
