Leipzig Icefighters Lace Up Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
The Leipzig Icefighters hockey team is lending its voice to the global fight against breast cancer. The team will don pink jerseys for all October home games, with proceeds from jersey sales supporting the UKL Breast Center. The initiative aims to raise awareness and show solidarity with those affected by the disease.
The Icefighters will kick off their awareness campaign on October 5th against the Rostock Piranhas. Throughout the month, they will wear pink jerseys for all five home games, with each jersey sale contributing to the UKL Breast Center. Employees from the center will be present at games, offering information on prevention, early detection, and therapy options.
The team's gesture is not just symbolic. Breast cancer affects about one in eight women in their lifetime. Early detection significantly improves recovery chances. The Icefighters, along with the UKL Breast Center, hope to encourage more women to take proactive steps in their health.
