Sports presenter Ulli Potofski, a well-known figure in German sports journalism, has passed away. His partner, Nadja Bogdanovic, announced the sad news to the magazine "Bunte".

Potofski's health had been a concern in recent months. Prior to his hospitalization, he had felt very weak and had suddenly lost a significant amount of weight. In mid-May, he was diagnosed with leukemia. His chemotherapy began immediately after the diagnosis.

A suitable bone marrow donor was found at the end of July, and the transplant was scheduled for mid-August at the University Hospital in Essen. However, the procedure was postponed due to the donor being on vacation. By the time the donor returned, Potofski had passed away on August 3rd.

Potofski's favorite team was Schalke 04, and his final resting place will be on the "Schalke Fan Field", just two kilometers from the Schalke 04 arena. His burial will be a cremation burial, and the exact date and details of the service have not been reported.

No further details about the cause of death or funeral arrangements have been reported at this time. Our thoughts are with Potofski's family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.

Potofski's contributions to sports journalism will not be forgotten. He took Schalke hand towels with him upon his return from a two-week hospital leave in mid-July, a small but poignant gesture that speaks to his enduring passion for the sport.

Rest in peace, Ulli Potofski.
