Madhya Pradesh: 1-Year-Old Dhani Dies After Taking Contaminated Coldrif Cough Syrup
A tragic incident has occurred in Madhya Pradesh, where one-and-a-half-year-old Dhani Dehariya from Junapani village has passed away due to acute renal failure. The cause of her death has been linked to the ongoing public healthcare crisis involving contaminated Coldrif cough syrup.
Dhani's parents rushed her to a local community health center on September 26 after she displayed severe symptoms of dehydration and oliguria, indicating kidney shutdown. Unfortunately, her condition continued to deteriorate, leading to her transfer to Nagpur's Government Medical College and Hospital. There, she fought bravely for 11 days on dialysis and ventilator support, but ultimately succumbed to multi-organ failure.
Investigations have revealed that Dhani was prescribed the potentially lethal Coldrif cough syrup by Dr. Praveen Soni at his private clinic in Parasia just days before her condition worsened. While there is no direct link established between Dr. Soni's clinic and Dhani receiving the syrup, he has been identified as having prescribed it. This marks the 13th confirmed child fatality linked to the cough syrup in the ongoing public health crisis in Madhya Pradesh.
Dhani's death has once again highlighted the seriousness of the public health crisis in Madhya Pradesh, with contaminated cough syrup claiming more innocent lives. Authorities are urged to take swift action to prevent further tragedies and ensure the safety of the public, especially children.
