Medical professionals in Sverdlovsk successfully resuscitated a woman following two instances of cardiac arrest.
In a remarkable display of medical expertise, City Hospital No. 4 in Nizhny Tagil has successfully resuscitated a 38-year-old woman from the Sverdlovsk region who suffered an acute myocardial infarction.
The emergency response team quickly transported the patient to City Hospital No. 4, where interventional radiologists and anesthesiologists discovered critical artery narrowing. The revival and recovery of the woman were a result of coordinated efforts from the medical team and modern equipment.
The woman's symptoms included severe chest burning and left arm pain. Unfortunately, the patient's dangerous condition was due to thrombophilia, a genetic disorder that causes an increased risk of abnormal blood clotting.
Konstantin Anikin, the chief physician of City Hospital No. 4, attributed the success of the case to the region's specialized vascular centers and the support from the regional Ministry of Health through the "Healthcare" and "Active Longevity" national projects.
The woman's health is now stable, and she has returned home. Stents were installed to restore blood flow in her arteries. However, it's important to note that regular monitoring of thrombophilia and following medical advice could have prevented the heart attack.
Thrombophilia can be managed to prevent early heart attacks primarily through anticoagulation therapy, lifestyle modification, and careful medical monitoring. Key management strategies include lifelong anticoagulation with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), addressing acquired risk factors, making lifestyle modifications, and seeking specialist consultation for genetic and coagulation screening.
While treatment is well-established to prevent venous thromboembolism, the role of thrombophilia-specific management to prevent arterial events like heart attacks is less clear and remains individualized.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of regular check-ups and health screenings, especially for working-age individuals. Regular screenings can detect diseases in their early, asymptomatic stages, potentially preventing life-threatening situations.
In the past, doctors at City Hospital No. 4 have also successfully saved the life of a patient with a liver tumor, demonstrating their commitment to providing high-quality healthcare.

- The successful resuscitation of the woman with the acute myocardial infarction highlights the significance of a well-equipped medical team in managing chronic diseases like heart attacks, especially when the condition is linked to genetic disorders such as thrombophilia.
- To prevent early heart attacks associated with thrombophilia, it's crucial to adopt anticoagulation therapy, lifestyle modifications, and routine medical monitoring, as recommended by leading health and wellness resources like the "Healthcare" and "Active Longevity" national projects.
- By following anticoagulation therapy with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) and addressing acquired risk factors, individuals with thrombophilia can significantly reduce their chances of experiencing arterial events such as heart attacks.
- In addition to cardiovascular health, maintaining mental health, nutrition, and fitness & exercise are also essential components of overall health and wellness, emphasizing the need for regular check-ups and health screenings to identify medical-conditions in their early stages.
