Mental Health Achievement Celebrated at Whitman School

The Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University has been honoured with the 2025 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award from Insight into Academia magazine. This recognition is a testament to the school's commitment to preparing students for the demanding work environment while prioritising their mental health and well-being.

Interim Dean Alex McKelvie expressed his gratitude for the award, stating that the Whitman School teaches business skills but also prepares students with other essential skills for workforce challenges. He believes that the award is due to the school's efforts in this regard.

The Whitman School's mental wellness initiatives are embedded into financial, curricular, and co-curricular programming. One such initiative is Whitman Wellness Week, held twice each academic year to applaud healthy habits, open dialogue, and mindful activities during peak periods of stress. The school also welcomes guest speakers and holds seminars on managing, overcoming, and destigmatizing mental health challenges.

The award recognises the Whitman School's individual programs and initiatives that promote inclusive excellence and belonging. The school's peer support programs, culturally attuned counseling services, and mental health education initiatives are likely contributors to this recognition.

The Nass Family Mental Health gift continues to help fund the Whitman School's growing emphasis on mental health and well-being. The school also offers an Entrepreneurial Well-Being course to equip future leaders with stress management aids.
