Palatinate Regions to Address Family Doctor Shortage with MVZ
The regions of Hauenstein and Dahner Felsenland in southwestern Palatinate are set to address their shortage of family doctors. The city council has majority support for a medical care center (MVZ), which will provide basic care and attract more doctors to the area. The project, initiated by local healthcare providers, is awaiting municipal permission.
The planned MVZ aims to reduce long journeys and waiting times for patients, currently facing a lack of doctors due to demographic changes. The estimated startup capital is around 200,000 euros. The center will allow doctors to work as employees, avoiding the bureaucracy of running their own practice and providing time for family and teamwork. Once permitted, the MVZ will be spread across several locations in the two communities, with no new buildings planned initially.
The MVZ, with its focus on basic care and employee-based structure, is expected to alleviate the shortage of family doctors in the region. With municipal permission pending, the project seeks to improve healthcare access for residents and attract more medical professionals to the area.
