In the aftermath of a tragic sleeper bus crash in Kỳ Anh Town, Hà Tĩnh, Vietnam, authorities have taken urgent action to provide medical support and ensure the safety of road transport businesses.

The crash, which took place on National Highway 1 early on Friday morning, claimed the lives of 10 people and left 15 injured. The victims are currently receiving emergency treatment at Kỳ Anh Town General Hospital and Hà Tĩnh Provincial General Hospital.

In response to the incident, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has signed Official Dispatch No 121/CĐ-TTg, instructing various authorities to take immediate action. Local authorities across the country have been directed to strengthen inspections and enforcement of legal regulations on road transport businesses, with the Ministry of Public Security ordering traffic police to intensify patrols and inspections of road transport activities.

The Ministry of Construction has also been asked to review and reorganize traffic flow on expressways and enhance infrastructure safety, in an effort to prevent future accidents.

In Hà Tĩnh province, Chairman of the Đà Nẵng City People's Committee Lương Nguyễn Minh Triết has been tasked with inspecting the transport company operating the sleeper bus, while Chairman of the Hà Tĩnh Provincial People's Committee Võ Trọng Hải has been tasked with ensuring medical support for the victims.

Hà Anh Đức, Director of the Department of Medical Services Administration, has instructed the Hà Tinh Provincial Department of Health to direct local hospitals to prioritize emergency treatment for all those hurt. In cases where injuries exceed the capacity of local facilities, patients must be promptly transferred to higher-level or specialized hospitals.

Local authorities have also been asked to provide both physical and psychological support for those affected by the crash, and to continue updating the Ministry. Psychological support and assistance are being provided to affected families, with coordination between health agencies and local authorities ongoing to ensure comprehensive care.

The crash involved a sleeper bus traveling from Hà Nội to Đà Nẵng, with investigations indicating that the driver, Lê Ngọc Thành, tested negative for alcohol and drugs. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.

The Prime Minister has requested sufficient medical support, supplies, and medicine for the victims in Hà Tĩnh province, and has asked for visits and support to be provided to the injured and the families of the deceased. The situation remains under close monitoring, with updates being communicated to the Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister’s office to ensure effective management of the aftermath.
