Red Cross's biggest crisis facility in Belarus inaugurated in Mogilev
The first regional crisis center of the Belarusian Red Cross has opened its doors in Mogilev, serving as a vital hub for humanitarian aid amidst the ongoing crisis on the Belarus-Poland border. Located in a former children's polyclinic, the Mogilev crisis center is the largest in the country and is divided into two wings: an office and a crisis center for people in need of assistance.
The crisis center provides aid to anyone in a difficult life situation, including refugees and Belarusians who have lost their housing. Among the priority needs of the refugees is temporary accommodation and assistance with means of subsistence. The Mogilev crisis center offers temporary accommodation with social-psychological rehabilitation and adaptation to society for up to one month.
In addition to temporary accommodation, the Mogilev crisis center offers a range of services. It provides informational-consultative aid, humanitarian assistance, psycho-social support, and works with children. An information center for migrants is also planned for the Mogilev crisis center. Furthermore, a migrant children's educational center and a resource center for rehabilitation means are in the pipeline.
The Mogilev crisis center also plans to host a third-age academy for the elderly. Guests at the Mogilev crisis center can receive assistance with employment, document processing, restoring contact with relatives, and finding permanent housing. Andrei Martynovsky, the head of the Mogilev Regional Red Cross Organization, clarified that the refugees also face a lack of information, including knowledge of the normative base.
Under the patronage of the Belarusian Red Cross, around 7,000 Ukrainian citizens are receiving constant assistance. The Mogilev crisis center has 4 rooms, a kitchen, showers, toilets, spaces for seminars and trainings, and a safe space for children. A center for receiving, storing, and distributing humanitarian aid is also planned for the Mogilev crisis center.
The Mogilev crisis center was created in response to the current situation on the Belarus-Poland border. The Belarusian Red Cross does not limit itself to one region and will redistribute flows if there is a shortage of places in any of the centers. For precise information about the Belarusian Red Cross Crisis Center in Mogilev, such as its current activities and future objectives, it is recommended to check official Belarus Red Cross communications or contact their local offices directly.
The Mogilev crisis center, apart from providing humanitarian aid and temporary accommodation for refugees, also offers services in various sectors. These include mental health support, health-and-wellness programs, and resources for fitness-and-exercise. Additionally, as part of its plans, the center aims to establish an information center for mental health and well-being, focusing on providing knowledge and resources to help manage the psychological impact of the crisis.
