Regret over deceased work-place psychologist, who exposed violence in workplace
Dr. Maggy Lopes da Costa, a civil servant at the Belo Horizonte City Hall and a dedicated member of the Ventosa Health Center team for the last 12 years, passed away on September 19th following a cardiac arrest.
Dr. Lopes da Costa had been a part of the BH SUS network since 2007, serving the city's residents with dedication and compassion. Her passing has left a significant void in the community.
The incident that led to her hospitalization occurred during a work meeting at the Ventosa Health Center. Dr. Lopes da Costa had denounced psychological violence during the meeting, but the name of the police officer investigating the suspected cases is not publicly available.
The Belo Horizonte City Hall has expressed its solidarity with Dr. Lopes da Costa's family and friends during this difficult time. The city also operates a socio-functional follow-up program for workers in the BH SUS network, which focuses on professionals with work-related conflicts, adaptation problems, and physical/mental illnesses.
