Amanda Sainsbury, 57, starred in Casualty and Holby City as cardio thoracic consultant Connie Beauchamp. In January 2022, she was involved in a three-car accident that left a nurse unable to work again.
After partying with a friend, Sainsbury took cocaine and decided to drive home the next day. Her vehicle veered off course and struck a Skoda driven by nurse Mark Le Sage, causing him severe injuries. The accident took place near her home in Deeping St Nicholas, Lincolnshire.
Sainsbury endured a cut to her head, a broken wrist, and a cracked clavicle in the crash and tested positive for cocaine in a roadside test. She pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of cocaine and was banned from driving for 28 months, reduced to 22 months due to an existing six-month interim ban.
The catastrophe happened after Sainsbury dealt with the tragic deaths of her father, best friend, and beloved pet dog, all within a short timeframe. Additionally, she was battling the stresses of her divorce at the time.

A mother's cocaine high was addressed during the school run as fellow parents seized her car keys and escorted her children to class.
The mother, Hayley Berry, 36, who lives in Ramsgate, Kent, ran her Ford C-Max in the middle of Grosvenor Road while attempting to drop off her children for school.
Berry was charged for drug-driving and driving under the influence of drugs following the incident. When her blood was tested, it showed a reading of 83 micrograms of cocaine byproduct Benzoylecgonine per litre of blood - exceeding the legal limit of 50.
In March 2023, Berry was sentenced for eight weeks but the term was suspended for 12 months, along with 100 hours of unpaid work.

Jessica Higgs, 20, crashed into an elderly couple, Tony Mist and Thelma Huse, killing them both after a lengthy cocaine binge.
The couple, from Surrey, had set off for a glamping trip to celebrate Mr Mist's 70th birthday when their lives were tragically cut short. Higgs had driven from Salisbury to Axminster, taken a nap, and driven on the A303 at Camel Hill near Yeovilton, Somerset when she fell asleep at the wheel.
Higgs, an electrical apprentice, served a three-year and five-month prison sentence and was banned from driving for six years and eight months.

Jade Devine, from Cumbria, struck and killed Bethanie Clark and David Muir after driving under the influence of alcohol and cocaine.
