Tackling the Monkeypox Threat in Lapu-Lapu City:

Hear it from outgoing Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan himself, as he announced the establishment of a joint task force on Monkeypox (Mpox) during a press conference on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. The task force aims to monitor and manage potential cases that could affect city residents showing symptoms such as rashes, fever, and body aches.

Members of this task force include the City Health Office, District Hospital, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

Every barangay health worker in the city will be a crucial figure in keeping tabs on individuals exhibiting symptoms within their respective communities.

Chan is well-acquainted with crises given his involvement in tackling the global Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the challenging situation seen earlier, he declared Lapu-Lapu City is now facing a critical situation with the current situation.
