Tulsa Health Department Ensures Safe Eats at State Fair

The Tulsa Health Department (THD) is preparing for the Tulsa State Fair, promising stringent food safety measures to protect the over one million expected attendees. The team of food inspectors will be on-site daily, conducting hundreds of checks to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

THD's commitment to public health is evident in their annual inspections. They typically perform over 16,500 inspections across Tulsa County's 4,800 retail food establishments. This year, they plan to inspect over 200 food booths at the fair alone, aiming to complete over 600 inspections in total. Each inspected booth that passes will receive an official THD sticker, serving as a reassurance to fairgoers.

In addition to inspections, THD will also provide hands-on education for vendors. They will offer guidance on safe food handling and proper handwashing techniques, further bolstering food safety at the event. This proactive approach is part of THD's larger mission to safeguard public health in Tulsa County.

With THD's comprehensive food safety plan in place, fair attendees can enjoy their favourite treats with peace of mind. The department's diligent work ensures that the Tulsa State Fair remains a safe and exciting event for all.
