University Medicine Halle's Skin Tumor Center Hosts Patient Day on August 23, 2025
The University Medicine Halle's Skin Tumor Center is set to host a Patient Day on August 23, 2025, aiming to provide a space for networking, encounters, and conversations about skin cancer.
Dr. Christiane Michl, Senior Physician in the University Clinic and Polyclinic for Dermatology and Venereology, and Director of the Skin Tumor Center, emphasizes the value of such events as an addition to medical treatment. She believes self-help groups, in particular, can offer affected individuals the opportunity to share experiences, support each other, and develop new perspectives together.
The Patient Day will take place from 10:00 to 12:30 PM in the seminar rooms of the University Clinic Halle (Saale), Ernst-Grube-Str. 40, House 5/6 (Teaching Building). Registration for the event is free and can be done via [email protected] or 0345 557 3925.
The center, which is one of four centers certified by the German Cancer Society for skin cancer in Saxony-Anhalt, is equipped with digital dermatoscopy systems and high-resolution sonography devices, enabling on-site diagnosis and tumor control. It provides guideline-based diagnosis, therapy, and follow-up care for patients with malignant melanoma, light skin cancer, rare tumors, and other skin diseases.
The close cooperation of various specialties in the weekly skin tumor conference is a central quality feature of the center. Participants can expect to meet multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists, dermatologists, nurses, and psycho-oncologists.
The event is aimed at skin cancer patients, their families, and anyone interested in the topic of skin cancer. It is expected to include specialist lectures on skin cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, workshops or interactive sessions for patients and caregivers, sessions with patient representatives sharing experiences, and information on psychosocial support, rehabilitation, and self-help groups.
Topics such as coping strategies, sports and movement therapy, and sun protection are also expected to be covered. The center's team hopes that an exchange might lead to the formation of a self-help group.
For authoritative and detailed information about the agenda, speakers, workshop topics, and support services offered during the Skin Tumor Center’s Patient Day, it is recommended to check the official University Medicine Halle website or contact their Skin Tumor Center directly.
