Uttar Pradesh government awards Colgate for educating 60 lakh students on oral health using the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® Program.
Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, the market leader in oral care in India, has announced a significant initiative to enhance oral health awareness and habits among children in Ayodhya. The announcement was made at the CSR Conclave held at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, where the Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, presented the recognition.
Colgate invites everyone to join the movement towards a healthier, brighter India, starting with the simple yet powerful habit of brushing twice a day. As part of this mission, Colgate plans to train Anganwadi workers across 2,300 centres in Ayodhya. This comprehensive training and capacity building will focus on oral health education, aiming to impact about 2.4 lakh (240,000) children in the region.
This initiative is an extension of Colgate's globally acclaimed Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® program, which has already reached 60 lakh (6 million) students in Uttar Pradesh. The program has been recognised by the government for its impact on children's oral health. Alongside training Anganwadi workers, Colgate is also distributing academic books to 5,000 students in Ayodhya, reinforcing educational development.
The program aims to instil the habit of brushing twice a day, helping promote healthier and brighter futures for children. By empowering local Anganwadi workers—who are key grassroots child care and health workers—Colgate hopes to create sustainable improvements in children's oral hygiene and reduce dental health issues in the community.
Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited is recognised for its leadership and innovative efforts in advancing sustainability and community well-being. The company has made significant strides in reducing plastic waste and promoting recyclability, conserving water and energy at its manufacturing facilities, empowering women with financial and digital literacy, and enhancing children's oral health.
